REVIEW: “All Things Are Connected” @ Seventh-Circle Zine

“Now admittedly I’m not usually seriously into the more aggressive sample driven industrial acts (a la Skinny Puppy) but local act SCHIZOID has proved that you can invade the senses with “noise pollution” and still have some rhythm to boot. “All Things are Connected” was released last year on D-Trash Technologies which is based in Kitchener, Ontario. Don’t let that sway you from either the label or the band SCHIZOID though, since remember that most of the really amazing acts in the music industry came from similar backgrounds. Small cities breed hardcore and innovative acts because usually the only time you can cut loose is through your music. SCHIZOID’s 2nd full length mixes the aforementioned noise-industrial with elements of hardcore rave and even a bit of funk (check out standout track “Grim Prospects”) strewn in for fun. All of this is brought together with SCHIZOID’s sonic vocals that pierce through all of that carnage to meld it into a cohesive package worthy of rotation on any rivetheads or raver’s stereo. Since I now inhabit the Tri-County area (Kitchener/Waterloo/Guelph area) I’ll be doing a bit more prodding into SCHIZOID as well as D-Trash Technologies in the future. In the meantime you can check out more info on the label and the band at” [Casey Sparrow]
