REVIEW: “All Things Are Connected” @ Ontario Metal Pages

“Into the developing digital hardcore genre wanders a new challenger, SCHIZOID. Hailing from Kitchener, Ontario, and weighing in at just one man SCHIZOID, has produced one of the most noise-based forays into the genre that I have heard to date. Vocally similar to Satyricon, musically, like Alec Empire gone mad, your ear drums don’t stand a chance against this barrage of sound. Blending electronic noise, black metal screams and hardcore lyrics about conspiracy, religion, and the human condition, this sometimes seems less a work of music and more a soundscape, whereas at other times, it seems an all-out assault on your senses. And yet, often, a danceable beat can be discerned from among the sound, and you find your head bopping to such tunes as Grim Prospects, which is strangely reminiscent of both older Ministry and old Fear Factory. Truly, this music is the soundtrack to an insane nightmare, if you listen to this when you’re just sitting around and relaxing, you’ve got problems. If you stick this CD on at a party, and nobody complains, they’re either terrified of you, or people you should be afraid of. This is music for the insane. Needless to say, I am not likely to part with it.” [Chris Wagner]
